 The Girard Medical Center Auxiliary is currently doing several interesting things. They run the Gift Shop 5 days a week from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday through Friday -- they also help patients and their families in the out-patient surgery waiting area.
The "Lending Library" is one of the new projects the Auxiliary has undertaken. A volunteer wheels a cart containing books and magazines from room to room and offers the reading material to patients. Another new service being offered is "Life Extenders" which is an exercise program using the equipment located in Physical Therapy. The cost is $20.00 per month for one and you can add a buddy for an additional $5.00. The times available are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. The Auxiliary meets on the 3rd Monday of every month. Each meeting has a speaker or plans fundraising events such as the yearly Sausage Sale, Silent Auction, and “Bakeless Bake Sale.” The volunteers also help with the area Bloodmobile. The Auxiliary assists the Hospital with their programs such as Healthcare for Women; National Nurse’s Week; Nurse’s Assistant Week; and National Doctor’s Day.
