Dr. Rachel Stevens was born and raised in Girard, KS. Her father, Jim Wilkins, practiced as a family physician in Girard before becoming a full time medical missionary to Haiti in 1998. Rachel graduated from Girard High School in the same year and went on to attend Pittsburg State University. She worked in the Girard Hospital Laboratory for several years during college andrejoined the Girard Medical Center team several years ago as a family practice physician at the Frontenac Clinic. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Pittsburg State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then moved to Kansas City to complete her medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor’s society for excellence in academics and volunteerism. She graduated medical school in 2006 and chose to follow in her father’s footsteps and specialize in family medicine. Rachel chose to remain in the Kansas City area and completed her family medicine internship and residency at Research Medical Center in the heart of KC, Missouri. Her training at Research Family Medicine Residency included very intensive internal medicine and critical care training.

Rachel was married to her high school sweetheart, Philip Stevens, in 1999 and they have a daughter, Claire. Philip is a graphic designer and grew up in Cherokee, KS. In her free time Rachel likes to spend time with her family and friends. She is an avid runner and rarely misses a day. She  direly misses her Kansas City Chiefs season tickets but you won’t find her missing a game. (She is also a die hard Jayhawks basketball fan, folks, so beware). Her medical interests include women’s health and care of chronic medical problems but she enjoys caring for patients of all ages. Please join Rachel at her new practice in Frontenac, KS for your family’s medical necessities.
