X.M. Jenkins, M.D.

Dr. X.M. Jenkins was born in South India.  His father was an attorney and his mother a school teacher.

Dr. Jenkins went to private school, college and medical school, followed by surgery training in South India.  During his academic career he ranked first at the state level in high school, college and won gold medals in the medical school finals.

Dr. Jenkins practiced Private Surgery for five years in his hometown in India.  He then went to England to acquire higher surgical training at the University of Manchester, England and became a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Dr. Jenkins originally planned on returning to India to build his practice to a higher level, but was influenced by his sister’s immigration to the United States.  His sister and her husband, both physicians, had immigrated to the U.S. around the same time he was planning to leave England and return to India.  Their success in the United States encouraged Dr. Jenkins to join them in America.  Soon after he arrived, Dr. Jenkins started Surgical Residency at the world renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  He soon received credit from the American College of Surgeons for previous training overseas, skipped one year, and moved to the University of Missouri, Kansas City to finish the remainder of his U.S. Surgical Residency.  After practicing in Minnesota, Dr. Jenkins moved to Neosho Missouri in 2004 and subsequently to South East Kansas during the early part of 2012.

Dr. Jenkins has a great deal of respect for the chief mentors in his career including Clive Grant, M.D., Endocrine Surgeon at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota; Charles VanWay, M.D., UMKC; George Paley, M.D., Manchester, England to name a few.

Dr. Jenkins is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Jenkins is married to Anitha Jenkins who has a bachelor’s degree in business management.  She manages the family and takes care of their two children, Sanjay and A.J., who both attend Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School in Joplin, Missouri.  He has one sister, who is a physician in Florida.  His father is an attorney with a practice in India and his mother, who was a school teacher, is deceased.

Dr. Jenkins is interested in jogging, table tennis, family trips, and real estate.
