Girard Medical Center Welcomes Kayla Stewart, DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC to Fort Scott Clinic
Experienced Family Nurse Practitioner Brings Compassionate, Comprehensive Care to the Community
Girard Medical Center is pleased to announce that Kayla Stewart, DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, has joined the healthcare team at the Fort Scott Clinic.
A board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, Stewart is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals and families across all stages of life. With a strong background in rural healthcare, she is passionate about building meaningful relationships with patients while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care close to home.
Stewart began her healthcare career as a Registered Nurse in emergency and acute care settings, where she developed strong clinical judgment and leadership skills while caring for complex and high-acuity patients. Throughout her nursing career, she advanced into leadership positions including House Supervisor and RN Coordinator, overseeing emergency department operations, staffing, and interdisciplinary coordination.
As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Stewart brings extensive experience in family practice and women’s health. Her clinical expertise includes preventive care, well-woman exams, prenatal and postpartum care, family planning, hormone management, and the diagnosis and treatment of both acute and chronic conditions. She is experienced in ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing patient education that supports long-term health and wellness.
Stewart is committed to practicing evidence-based medicine while prioritizing continuity of care, patient advocacy, and accessibility—especially for rural and underserved populations. She values a collaborative approach to healthcare and works closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care for every patient.
Known for her compassionate and approachable style, Stewart strives to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to take an active role in their health.
“I’m excited to begin this new chapter in my career and return to providing family practice care in my community,” Stewart said. “There is a significant need for accessible, comprehensive primary care, and I’m passionate about helping patients of all ages with a wide variety of healthcare needs. I’ve already had the opportunity to reconnect with a few familiar faces, and I look forward to continuing to meet and care for many more members of the community.”
