Besides running the Girard Medical Center Gift Shop, the Volunteers are very active in supporting the hospital and its employees through their fundraising efforts. Several times each year, the Auxiliary invites outside vendors to set up in the lobby to showcase their merchandise for sale. The employees enjoy the benefit of being able to use payroll deduction when they shop and a percentage of the total sales go to the Auxiliary.
Volunteers are also very involved in the community by assisting with the hospitals educational program each year during National Hospital Week by serving as chaperones to the Haderlein Elementary second graders, they lead the Girard Community Blood Mobile Drive four to five times a year by coordinating the scheduling and recruiting of donors, and they set up a booth at the Fall Festival selling 50/50 raffle tickets. They hold several fund raisers every year including selling poinsettias, donuts and sales. They also sponsor book fairs and scrub sales ever year. They have paid for the beautiful Christmas lights out front as well as the stone sign.
If you would like more information about any of the activities hosted by the Volunteers or are interested in joining, please contact Karen Wenzelburger, Director of Administrative Services at 620.724.5165.
