Healing Starts Here: Wound Care at Girard Medical Center
At Girard Medical Center, compassionate care and strong community connections are at the heart of everything we do. As part of our Rooted in Rural campaign, we are proud to spotlight our Wound Care Department and Gianna Arthur, RN, whose dedication helps patients heal and regain quality of life close to home.
For the past eight and a half years, Gianna has cared for patients throughout Southeast Kansas, providing advanced wound care for both acute and chronic wounds. Raised in nearby Weir, Kansas, Gianna understands the importance of accessible, personalized healthcare in rural communities.
The Wound Care Department specializes in treating a wide variety of wounds using advanced techniques and specialty dressings designed to promote healing. Patients receive individualized treatment plans, including wound cleaning, measuring, documentation, and ongoing monitoring to track healing progress week after week.
“We can care for and heal all kinds of wounds for people of all ages, even wounds they may have struggled with for months,” Gianna shared. “Helping patients heal and regain their quality of life is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.”
Gianna values the relationships built through patient care and appreciates the close-knit environment Girard Medical Center provides. In a rural community, those connections matter.
“There are many moments that make me proud to work at Girard Medical Center,” she said. “Hearing patients express gratitude for the care they received is incredibly rewarding.”
Through compassionate care and advanced treatment options, Gianna and the Wound Care team embody what it means to be Rooted in Rural—caring for our neighbors, families, and community every step of the healing journey.
