GMC Welcomes New Speech-Language Pathologist and Expands Therapy Services
Girard Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of Debi Curran, CCC-SLP, to its rehabilitation team and the expansion of speech-language and swallowing therapy services for both pediatric and adult patients.
Debi Curran recently joined Girard Medical Center after moving to the Girard area. Originally from Sterling, Kansas, Debi earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Kansas State University. She completed her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2025 at Wichita State University.
Debi brings clinical experience in both acute care and inpatient rehabilitation settings in Joplin, Missouri. She also has advanced training in LSVT “Loud,” a specialized therapy program designed to improve voice and speech for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions.
Growing up on a farm in rural Kansas, Debi developed a strong appreciation for small communities and access to local healthcare services. She is passionate about serving rural populations and is excited to build her career while caring for patients in the Girard community.
With Debi’s addition to the team, Girard Medical Center is now offering comprehensive speech-language and swallowing therapy services for children and adults. These services address a wide range of conditions, including:
- Speech sound and articulation disorders
- Language delays and language development challenges
- Voice disorders
- Social communication difficulties
- Cognitive-communication impairments
- Swallowing disorders (dysphagia)
Patients who are having trouble with communication, cognition, voice changes, or swallowing may benefit from a speech therapy evaluation. A physician’s order is required prior to scheduling an evaluation. Each patient will receive an individualized assessment and treatment plan tailored to their specific needs.
Girard Medical Center remains committed to expanding access to high-quality healthcare services close to home. The addition of speech-language pathology services strengthens the organization’s mission to meet the evolving needs of the community.
